BLUF - Bottom Line Up Front
Hackers use a mix of phishing and social engineering to trick people into clicking false links, which opens their computers to attacks. They place malicious résumés on job-posting forums, so when HR reviews the documents, they unwittingly open themselves to cyber threats. To defend against this, increase awareness and training on recognizing suspicious emails and ensure systems have strong security measures to prevent unauthorized access.
Defend against Malicious Attack
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) wrote on the topic of hackers who send malicious emails that are a cross between phishing and social engineering techniques. They do this to have someone click on the false link, which opens up their computer to the hackers. In doing so, the hackers are able to dive onto an online and place a malicious résumé on a job-posting forum so that when any HR selects the résumé to review the potential candidate, they’re actually opening themselves up to a cyberattack without realizing it.
Max Aulakh contributed his expertise to analyzing this topic and provided a recommendation to defend against this type of attack. Read more here to learn more.
