Joint Air Force, Army, Navy manual. Previously used in Special Access Program (SAP)s, especially before the shift to NIST SP 800-53 controls. This set of standards transitioned to the Department of Defense Manual 5205.07 DoD Special Access Security Manual, volumes 1-4. The volumes cover such topics as General Procedures, Personnel Security, Physical Security and marking requirements.  Each of the respective departments within the DoD, developed their own instance, and guidance for their respective mission areas, such as the Air Force manual, or Navy Instructions. As the name suggests, these manuals cover how to protect classified joint missions, where access is protected to only a few personnel with the designated need to know, extensive background checks along with counter-intelligence polygraph (lie detectors), and physical and security protections.

Applicability: Historically relevant in military guidance, but largely outdated as of 2010, with a most recent change as of 2020
