Business Development & Capture Manager (U.S. Air Force Market)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Development & Capture Manager to drive growth in the U.S. Air Force market. This role will focus on identifying new business opportunities, developing relationships with Air Force agencies and prime contractors, and leading capture efforts for strategic pursuits. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of Air Force acquisition processes, federal contracting, and DoD mission requirements, with a proven track record of securing government contracts.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Capture Management
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within U.S. Air Force commands, program offices, and related agencies.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including AFWERX, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), and major prime contractors.
- Lead the capture process, including customer engagement, competitive analysis, teaming strategies, and proposal positioning.
- Develop and execute capture plans to increase the probability of winning targeted opportunities.
- Conduct market research and analyze Air Force budgets, acquisition strategies, and policy changes to identify emerging opportunities.
- Shape and influence upcoming requirements by engaging with Air Force decision-makers early in the procurement process.
- Work closely with internal teams to align business development strategies with corporate goals.
- Support the development of marketing and outreach strategies to enhance brand visibility within the Air Force market.
- Collaborate with proposal teams to ensure well-positioned, high-quality, and compliant submissions.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of business development and capture management experience within U.S. Air Force and DoD markets.
- Strong understanding of Air Force acquisition processes, Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), Other Transaction Authority (OTA) agreements, 8A Program and FAR/DFARS regulations.
- Proven track record of winning Air Force contracts and executing capture strategies.
- Extensive knowledge of Air Force program offices, mission areas, and funding priorities.
- Strong relationship-building skills with government and industry stakeholders, including Air Force decision-makers.
- Excellent strategic thinking, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in GovWin, SAM.gov, USAspending.gov, and other market intelligence platforms.
- Ability to develop teaming agreements, competitive pricing strategies, and win themes tailored to Air Force requirements.
